PS - I need some stocking holders thingees. These are being held up by ornament hooks… not real affective if there is a slight breeze, even. And, one day I’m going to break down and buy a tree skirt instead of wadding up a sheet underneath there (does anyone else do that?!).

i still have no desire to start decorating for Christmas. none at all.
and we use a tree skirt made by my granny.
you did so well on ashlyn’s quilt, why don’t you wait till after Christmas when all the Christmas fabrics go on sale, buy a bunch, and make yourself a tree skirt?

bluepaintred has a very good suggestion..

Cool! It all looks very pretty. I think we have some of those hooks, that we can’t use….. I will check at home and get back to you!

Okay.

I’ve used a sheet before…and I’m pretty sure that my mom did that all growing up.
Check out the after Christmas sales…I got my skirt for less than $10 at Target a couple years ago after Christmas.

Blue - That would involve buying stuff. Why don’t you do that for me?
Dianne - Hello there! Great to see that you made your way over here!
Eliz - Why can’t you use your hooks? You’ve got a mantel and stockings to hang also, don’t you?

Sally - Thanks for making me feel better about using a sheet. Thats what we used growing up. I’ll plan on hitting the clearance after the holiday and see what I can find.

ALL Christmas things, from trees to socks and outfits should be bought after Christmas. If my tree suddenly disappeared and I was a millionaire, I would STILL wait until after Christmas to hit the clearance sales.
Its the only way to do it!
I buy all my cards and wrap for Christmas the January before too!

That looks so nice! My tree is still sitting in its box in the hallway..
We use a tree skirt made by my MIL. She is deceased now so it means even more.

Blue - Very very true. Now, if only I had money after the holidays to spend!
Trish - Mine had been taking up the floor in my guest room for literally a month. It was starting to drive me crazy.

I love what you did! It looks beautiful!

Pretty, pretty! I wish I had a mantel in front of my fireplace. My fireplace surround is this ugly huge mess of big ass rocks. I sew h8 et.
And don’t kill me, but Martha Stewart had a totally easy and cute as a button tree skirt that she made out of a large piece of felt. Seriously, no sewing….just cutting with scissors. Though I’m pretty sure she used pinking shears or a scalloped pair of scissors for the edging. But it was OMFG so cute! I have a bunch of tree skirts (Hello? I’m a Christmas whore!) And I’m still thinking on making one of hers.
I’m addicted to dumb stuff, huh?

Oh I wish I had that fireplace.
We used to do the sheet thing but now I have my mom’s tree skirt and her village. We switch off each year on what goes under the tree.

Yes, I have all of those things minus the appropriate thing to put the holders on??? Tony just tells me what can and can’t happen with things like this?

I really don’t know what is the problem really???

KG - If you have a million, surely you could spare one for a poor ol’ soul?
Kat - I <3 my fireplace. Regretfully, its more of a ‘pretty’ than a usable thing right now, until it gets fixed.
Eliz - I’m intrigued as to why Tony says it doesn’t work for you… Keep me posted.

Okay, I will let you know and see how many we have too.
