The repair service I use has a flat rate - which hasn't benefited me yet, but will as soon as I need a part replaced. I hope you watched closely so next time you can try the same thing. I'm guessing he cleaned the flame sensor. When I bought our new furnace they told me it had a 5 year warranty. They lied (sorta). The parts have a 5 year warranty, but not the labor. Good thing my furnace guy only charges $40/hr. I've only had to have him work on it once.
