I’m so confused as to why my cordless mouse (powered by 2 AA batteries) always seems to run out of juice with no warning. The mouse only seems to die when I’m using it, also. Which, for some reason, usually happens two minutes after I’ve let my roommate use the computer.
There are two things that aggravate me about this situation.
1 - There is a warning message that pops up on the screen when the batteries are low. I hardly ever receive this message. Which means that the message pops up when my roommate is using my computer. You have to click OK to get rid of the message. Which means that he clicks OK and never relays the message to me… or even considers changing the batteries by himself.
2 - After the warning message pops up, you need to immediately change the batteries. There is very little time left before the batteries are dead. Very very little. After the batteries die, you can get a little more use out of the mouse if you keep pressing the reset button on the bottom of the mouse. I keep extra AA batteries for my mouse literally 6 - 8 inches away from the mouse… but instead of changing the batteries, the roommate will continuously flip over the mouse and press the reset button with a pin.
I don’t mention it to him because its really a petty stupid thing that isn’t life altering. I will continue to live even if the roommate never realizes the ease of changing the mouse batteries on his own. But, it still aggravates me, none the less.
Is there something minor like this that occurs at your house that drives you batty?

Sounds more like a frequent visitor than a roommate…..Suggestions:
In front of the person, look all excited and say “WOW”, I just figured out what this light/message means - let me show you how to change the batteries.”
Second, store the cordless mouse for your use only. The rommate will just have to figure out how to plug in an available mouse.
sorry, I am in an aggressive mood tonight - “my way or the hiway” :arg:

Oh, its the roommate, not a frequent visitor. And, I have no problem with the use of the mouse, just the lack of communication about something so basic as ‘hey, the batteries are low’.

It bugs me when Not a Grampy replaces the toilet paper going under. I know I should be happy that he even replaces it, but…
