This weekend was very productive.  I was away from the house pretty much all day on Saturday helping Elizabeth get the last little things bought for the wedding.  Well, we hope, anyhow.  I’m sure that if Elizabeth never sees another wedding section of craft store, she will be satisfied.  I can’t say that I blame her.

My calendar is slowly being covered with dates for fine tuning of wedding details, especially since we’re less than 6 weeks out.  Boys don’t understand all the time that goes into the planning of this stuff.  Tom is wondering if he’ll see me home on a Saturday any time soon.

Doubtful, dear, doubtful.

Was there anything at your wedding that you wished you would of done differently, or didn’t even think to plan for until it happened?

  2. For my daughter’s wedding her MIL brought this large Wishing Well thing decorated for a wedding. I never thought of this, thank goodness she did.

It is for all the cards that people give to newlyweds. You know cards that hold gift cards, cash, checks? It came in really handy since they had so many cards. We didn’t have to worry about loosing envelopes or having them slip behind the gift table and be lost.

While I thought the Wishing Well look was kind of tacky (shh don’t tell daughter) it did come in handy.

  5. Don’t forget the marriage license or where it is.
I had set mine on top of the file cabinet and some dummy (probably a man) came along and set shit there and knocked it off behind the cabinet. So I kept looking IN the cabinet, even though I had SWORN I got the license OUT to be ready. THAT was a fun wedding morning.
I wonder how many people just forget to bring it?

  6. My FIL, who was also the minister who married us, put the marriage license AFTER it was signed by everyone in the pocket of his tux, and then he returned the tux, got on a plane and flew back to KS from CA. Luckily, he remembered at some point, and our best man was able to go retrieve it for us. Scary!

The BEST thing we did was hire a limo to take us the 2 1/2 hours to the airport for us to fly out for our honeymoon after the reception. It was so relaxing and fun to not have to worry about traffic, and to be treated like royalty. The best $400 we could have spent!

  7. Most guys DO understand the planning that goes into it, which is why we stay the hell outta the way.

My advice to every guy that’s about to get hitched:

Look deeply into her eyes and tell her, “Send me an invitation. I promise I’ll be there.” Then go live in the swamp for the next 3 months. It’s really none of your business.
