I need your FTP help again:

April 2nd, 2008

This thing is driving me crazy.

Again.

I’m using SmartFTP that I downloaded from the internet. I’ve used it before with no problems.

But, since changing towers, I lost all my login information… cuz I’m not super smart like that… remembering all that stuff on my own.

Point being: I cannot log in to this SmartFTP thingee to add plugins to my blawg. Can someone tell me how to find my user name and password for this stuffs?

PS - I am not crazy intelligent when it comes to this, obviously. Please use small, one syllable words when answering this question for me.

Thanks.

Updated to jump up and down and thank Laci because she’s super smart and I’m no so smart and and helped me and she fixed the problem, which wasn’t really a problem, it was operator error, which I’m totally man enough (even though I am a woman) to admit that it was completely my fault and she helped me lots and lots.

My FTP login is the same as my cPanel. Maybe try that?

If that’s not the case — try creating a new FTP account through cPanel.

If you can’t get to cPanel — maybe your fabulous hostess can help. :D

I can log into my cpanel (which I’ve never ever done before and I’m scared of everything I see there). I tried using the same info for the smartftp and it doesn’t work. :(

I’m getting this error message, even after creating a new ftp account through my cpanel like you suggested.

    You’re hosted through Cincere right?

    See if this works:

    Click on FTP accounts.
Find the username you used to log in to SmartFTP.
There should be a change password option.

TrishK - I barely do! Thanks, though!

Laci - I changed my password on my cpanel. It still didn’t let me log in to the smartftp. I feel really dumb. Can I email you my username and password to see if you can do it?
