I really do feel bad for not posting with any form of regularity.  I even feel worse knowing that I do sit at my computer every day and surf the ‘net, and still don’t post.  I’ve gone so far as to open my blog’s dashboard nearly every other day and stare at the blank screen, hoping something will pop out of my little head that is worth writing about.

Alas (yes, I really just said ‘alas’) I’ve got nothing but a hodge podge of stuffs.

Wanna hear about it?

Okie dokie.

- I have cleaned my desk from top to bottom.  And, I mean cleaned.  Like, everything was taken out, dusted off, gone through and redistributed in a neat fashion.  I bought shelves for all the collectibles that have been…. uh, collected… to help space out the clutter which was the top of my desk.  Its all very surreal.  Having an organized desk is something so rare in my life, so when it happens, its almost as satisfying as buying a new car or something.  Do you understand what I mean?

- My younger cat has taken to hissing and swiping at my older cat here recently.  Its not consistent.  But, it is mainly unprovoked.  I don’t understand what the deal is… nothing has changed otherwise (to the best of my knowledge).  They’re both indoor cats, and have been all their lives, and they’ve been raised together since they were old enough to leave their mothers.  We’ve had them for 6 years or so?  I’ve taken to calling the younger, moodier one a ‘crotchety old man’.  Cuz, apparently its the truth now.

- I got two inches cut off my hair yesterday.  Its the first time in a long long time that I’ve kept my short hair cut after chopping off enough to donate to Locks of Love.  I almost feel guilty for keeping it short this time.  Yet, I’m sure I’ll let it grow back out again, and start the rotation over again.

- We’re having a party in a couple of weeks.  I think we’re going officially call it an annual event to have a party at our house every year in the beginning of Autumn.  We’ve pretty much done it every year since Tom’s gotten hurt anyhow, might as well just stick with it.  You know, if it ain’t broke…

- My sister might be putting in a bid on a house today.  She’s been wanting to buy a house for two years now.  And, she’s actually found one that meets most of her criteria.  I went to see it yesterday and I think its definitely worth the paperwork.  I hope she gets it, if its really the one she wants.

- I bought the paint to change the color of the trim on my house, finally.  It was a rosey pink color, which never really appealed to me.  It wasn’t horrible, hence the reason I waited so long to actually purchase the new paint.  Now its a beautiful forresty green color, which I love.  Of course, forresty green is my favorite color, in case you didn’t know.

Meh, I think I’m over attempting to post something for now.  I’ve been distracted with my dwindling supply of Diet Coke and how to go about fixing this delimma without leaving my house.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Oh!

My!

Goodness!

You’ll never guess what came in the mail today!!

I wasn’t even aware that I had something coming in the mail…

And, even once I saw who the package was from, I still wasn’t prepared for the awesomeness that was hidden inside:

My cats have proved themselves to be worthwhile.

They’ve done their fair share of mice chasing. They’ve also taken out a few gnarly looking insects, much to my delight (until I have to remove the dead carcass!).

Well, today, they’ve exceeded my expectations.

While walking through the living room, I noticed my two cats huddled around Paul’s amplifier. I didn’t really think much of the activity, until they didn’t come running when I filled their food bowl.

I decide to walk over to investigate the situation that have captured my cats attention so intently.

Poking out through the bottom of the speaker mesh is a tiny little tail.

No. Its not a mouse.

Its a snake. An itty bitty tiny snake. Maybe about 6 inches long, max.

Now, for some odd reason, I’m not nearly as terrified of snakes as I am of mice. (Not that I’m going to pick up some random snake, mind you.) If it had been a mouse, I would of immediately gone to find Paul and made him take of the problem quickly.

Since it was a snake though, and such a little guy, I watch the activities for a minute and continue on my way. I figure I’d give the snake a fighting chance, but I wasn’t going to help him out either. If he escaped from the amplifier and I saw him running from the cats, I’d help him back outside. But, if the cats got to him – fair is fair.

About thirty minutes later, I check on my cats. They’re still sitting in front of Paul’s speaker. Looking a little closer, I notice the teeny tiny snake is laying motionless in front of the speaker.

Now, I might not be terrified of snakes. But, I hate dead animals. I’m not going to touch it. End of story.

So, I call Paul in to remove the poor little guy. After removing the snake from the house, I was told that the cats had just nibbled on the snakes tail. It wasn’t dead. It took off as soon as it was let go outside.

Gooooood kitties!

I’m kind of nervous to see what else they might find, though.

My cat, Noname (pronounced Nonahmi – for those who are new here), is a little upset with me.

See, I got all crazy motivated and wrapped all the Christmas presents.

Now he can’t do this anymore.

BTW – Have you voted for my new blog name? Go ahead. Vote again. Its alright.

Oh my goodness.

I thought I was being all clever here…

Its taking for flippin’ ever.

I hate satellite internet.

One day we’ll have a high speed internet. One day…

Okay, but the real point of this entry:

Aw, look!

Our first fire in our fireplace!

(Our backyard neighbor decided we had to have a fire in our fireplace…)

Technically we shouldn’t have a fire in the fireplace until we do some repairs. But, they kept the fire small, and watched it carefully.

I recorded this (twice) so Tom can watch it while he’s in bed. Hehe! Maybe it’ll help him stay warmer just watching it.

(The first time I tried to record it, our black and white kitty Noname decided he needed to sit directly in front of the camera. Not in a, “Aw, look at the cute kitty by the fire” way. It was more of a, “Dude, I can’t see the fire cuz the cat’s blockin’ the shot” way.)

Yeah, it took a looooong time to upload this short clip. Like, almost a flippin’ hour.

That’s a little extreme, if you ask me.

Now I’m off to my sister’s house!

I don’t know what got into my cats last night. They were definitely up to some mischief! I woke up this morning to a small disaster!

My kitchen cabinet where I store my cleaners was opened and there were two bottles on the floor. (Thankfully they weren’t open.) I know this was Noname’s doing. He is almost too smart for his own good – getting into the cabinets frequently. We constantly yell at him to quit. Yet, if he’s hunting a mouse… I can’t get too angry, can I?

I have a change jar in the bathroom, tucked into a corner. It sets on the edge of a bathroom rug. And, Paul also has one of those rugs that wraps around the base of the toilet. Anyhow, both of those rugs were wadded up in the middle of the floor. Therefore, the jug had slid off the rug and tagged my tub, probably rather violently. It was destroyed. Paul sifted through the glass to remove the change and threw away the jug.

Not to mention Noname’s strong desire to sit on the window ledge in the living room. He weaves in behind the shade. Which has already bent the slats, breaking one. I now have my shade opened enough that he doesn’t have to push it out of his way.

I’m contemplating getting the child proof latches for the cabinets. As for the jug – if I get another – it’ll probably be plastic. Or, it won’t be setting on my floor!

Geez.

These cats think they have the run of the place!

I’ve mentioned to a few people my ‘fish bowl theory’.

I don’t know why I’ve decided I need to share it with everyone, but here we go:

Fish grow only big enough to fit into their aquarium. Therefore, if you buy a small gold fish, and stick it in a cup, it probably won’t grow much bigger. But, if you put the fish into a larger aquarium, the fish will grow larger. The fish in the big water garden at the old apartment were just gold fish, mind you. And, they’re huge, now!

(I don’t know how I know this. And, I don’t know it to be true. But, humor me.)

So, I’ve had this fear since moving my cats into this house that they will turn into either even larger blobs of cats, or mountain lions!!

Anyhow – thats it. My theory. Ta -da.
