I suppose my only complaint about Fowler Fest 08 would be that our comcast remote control for the bedroom television has walked away.  I mean, really though, who steals a remote control?  So, I can’t quite figure out what has happened there.  We’re still looking around the house.  Maybe its in the freezer, or something.

I would go so far as to say that Fowler Fest 08 was a sucess.  Our intention this year was to throw a good ol’ fashion party with loud music and keg beer, and to recoup our cost of the whole shindig.  Which is exactly what happened.

The sheriff was promptly called at 11 PM with a noise complaint, but shook his head in disbelief when he got here.  He had said he rolled his windows down, and strained his ears to hear anything.  I told him that we had milked the time for every last second, but promptly unplugged at 11 PM.  He was appreciative, and left pretty quickly.

Both kegs were drained completely, I was told.  Interestingly enough, I didn’t have a drop of alcohol this year.  I was throwing back the Diet Cokes like no ones business, though!  And, honestly, I didn’t mind not drinking.  I think I’m on to something here with this paxil I’m taking for anxiety.

There were a couple near-altercations that were quickly resolved with a little help from a sober homeowner (that would be me, by the way).  Not between any of our friends, mind you.  It was between drunken neighbors.

And, one kid (I say ‘kid’, I sure hope he was 21) tried doing a keg stand on my keg, which I abruptly stopped also.  I strongly let him know that he was not at some college frat party and standing off of my keg was not okay, and to drink out of a glass like a human being.   He quickly apologized and stepped away.

Past that, there are some pictures on myspace and facebook.  If you have any pictures of Fowler Fest, please let me know.  I’d love to get copies!

We’ll be having Fowler Fest 09 next fall.  Start saving funds so you can come too!

Blue gave me the keys to her blog while she’s away ‘camping’.

I’ve decided to expose the truth about her while she’s gone.

Go read all about it before the story breaks on CNN.

C’mon y’all. I need 3 2 more people for my sock exchange.

I NEED FUN SOCKS!!

This is not a ‘blogging’ thing. You don’t have to have a blog to do this. If I didn’t have a blog to put it on, I’d be emailing y’all about it. Or calling you. On the telephone!!

(How weird would that be? To talk to someone on the telephone?! What decade is this? Anyways…)

I know its a weekend so some people haven’t even read the about the GSE2007 yet. But, I’m getting impatient.

Heather? Are you there? You know you want fun socks… You’ve got lots of girlfriends that’ll play along.

Angie, I know all the girls in your office would be all about this.

Vicki? Not A Granny? Trish? Pixie? Risible Girl? Tina?

Don’t think you know six people that will participate? Ask your co-workers. Talk your grandma into it. Ask girls from church. Ask your scrapbooking friends. Tell your drinking buddies. Talk to the crack dealer down the road… (okay, that was a bit too much)

There are only THREE TWO more spots to fill… then, you’ll be left out of the bestest and greatest GSE2007.

Well… I know a couple people who are still looking to fill their 6 spots too. So, if my last two spots get filled, but you want to participate, let me know. But, daggummit… the faster you get in on this, the faster you get COOL SOCKS!!!

For not leaving the house today, we had a really full day.

Tom’s mom and sister came over this evening to bring us dinner. They hung around for a while so we could all hug and love and fuss over the baby, who is 6 weeks old!! Holy geez. Tom’s sister looks amazing. You’d never know she had a child, dropping nearly all her baby weight already! And, of course, the little princess is absolutely adorable, cooing and wiggling all over the place. She loves listening to Uncle Tom’s voice…

They barely left when Angie and Steve came over. Steve is on his month leave from being stationed in Japan, trying to fit in a whole bunch of visits with friends and family in a very limited amount of time.

Angie and Steve hung out with me in the living room while our neighbor down the road spent some time with Tom and Paul.

Then, before Angie and Steve left, Elizabeth and Tony made their way over also. We all talked for about an hour before poor Angie looked like she was going to fall asleep on my couch. I made Steve take her home. Okay, not like you can make a Marine do anything they don’t want to do… but, I told him!

Elizabeth and Tony stayed for about another hour before heading out also.

A good night. I love visitors.

And now I’m exhausted. Sleepy time, I think.

Okay – so quickly, let me tell you what’s going on.

Tom’s wonderful friends since childhood had been trying to figure out how to get the bathroom remodeled since we moved in here.  They are more than capable of doing the work, they just needed the funding…

Then, about a month ago, out of the blue, one of these friends calls and says that he’s opened a Home Depot credit card with the sole intention of making our bathroom wheelchair accessible.  Isn’t that just amazing?!

I’d love to be able to pay him back, and hopefully over time I will be able to give him some money.  Let alone finding a way to pay back all of Tom’s friends that have come over to help out with the remodel…

I mean, how do you say thank you enough for something like this?

The guys have been here long hours over the weekend, and have their regular jobs through the week, but plan on coming over straight from work… I’m just so amazed.  They’re shooting for it to be done by Wednesday…

We are blessed.  Thank you God for placing these wonderful people in our lives.

And, for all of you that did donate to the bathroom originally, again, we THANK YOU, too!!  Without all of you, Tom wouldn’t have transportation… which, in all honesty, is more important than the shower!
