So, if you’ve been watching me on facebook, you’ve noticed that Tom’s had a hell of a time last month. Thank God May is over. Let’s hope that we never have another May 2010 again.

Tom’s stuck in bed with a horrible pressure wound. Our neighbors helped us figure out a way to get Tom outside on an air mattress, thankfully. I call it Tom’s palace. I feel its fit for royalty!

The first day the palace was built, though, we didn’t get him out because it was too hot and Tom wasn’t feeling up to moving around. The second day, we had to take the palace down because of a storm that came through… of course, the storm lasted all of 20 minutes. And, then, the humidity and heat kicked up again. Today looked like rain all day long, which made us hesitate to put the palace back up again. We honestly can’t wait to use it… but we’d hate to get out there and get stuck in the rain!

I’ve found some photo booth software online for $40. It can be personalized per event and can be uploaded directly to the internet or printed off. I’m super stoked about this, and can’t wait to find $40 to buy it for Fowler Fest.

How much would you pay for photo booth pictures, btw?

My domain is coming up for renewal, and I can’t quite find the change to renew it yet.

The van’s licenses are due, which also means its time to pay my personal property tax. (Yes, I know they’re due at the beginning of the year… I never have the money to pay them then. And, the penalty is minimal.)

So, I guess I’m just waiting for someone to shake the money tree over us.

Past that, we’re chugging right along.

  1. I don’t live in the antarctic.  I’m pretty much over this whole foot of snow on the ground that won’t melt because its been below freezing for over 2 weeks now.  It always seems so much colder when there’s snow on the ground, IMO.
  2. I’m attempting to figure out the second fill on the propane tank for this winter.  Go figure the weather would be so frigid this year that I’d go through propane as if it were water.
  3. TNR is very confident that his truck is going to freeze to death.  So much so that he goes out every couple of hours to start it, to make sure it doesn’t freeze up.
  4. I haven’t worried about my car one bit.  Perhaps I should.  But, eh, whatevah.  It’s not like I can make it warmer outside.
  5. I’m attempting to get ‘the boys’ to tell me what materials we would need in order to build a double bay carport (that we can turn into a garage eventually).  I’ve not gotten anywhere far with these attempts.
  6. I obviously don’t have the funds to purchase materials for a carport, but could scrounge Craigslist and put up a materials list on Fowler Fest’s facebook.  Then, perhaps, I might stumble upon some of the things we need.
  7. Christmas was awesome.  We got a Wii.  Well, we got more than a wii.  But, c’mon!  We got a wii!
  8. New Years was uneventful.  Which is okay, I guess.  If it weren’t so bloody cold outside for New Years, I’d try to get a party together some year.
  9. (Something about pickles)
  10. (Number 9 was solely for you, Angie.)
  11. I can’t get my stupid wordpress to update.  I’m so over trying to get it done.  Wonder what fun stuff I’m missing out on, if any.
  12. I have yet to send my niece and nephew anything for Christmas.  I feel really badly about this.  Maybe they’ll get some Valentine’s Day money instead…
  13. My brother turns 36 today.  I think its 36.  All I know is that he’s older than me.  I don’t know how old I am.  I don’t wanna do the math.  Math sucks.  Especially when it comes to tacking a number to ones self.  Ew.
  14. I keep wanting to blog.  Really.  I stare at my computer every night trying to find something clever to write about.  I just feel like I’m plumb out of clever anymore.
  15. Do people really read this thing anyhow?
  16. Facebook has become a blogging downfall of mine.  If its interesting, I can put it in a one liner status update.  I don’t know if people even click over to my blog anymore, or only read these posts through facebook.
  17. If people don’t know my blog exists, why am I holding on to it for dear life?

I gotta lot of crap.

Tons, I tell you.

Can I get rid of any of it?

No. (That’s the simple answer.)

So, I finally thought of an idea to help create a little extra space in my tiny little world.

Okay, I didn’t think up the idea. Otherwise, I’d be a millionaire. No, instead, I helped the inventor become a millionaire by buying this:

vacuum bag sucker thingee that makes things smaller to store

vacuum bag sucker thingee that makes things smaller to store

to make these easier to store:

heavy thick blankets that we love but take up too much room

heavy thick blankets that we love but take up too much room

and these too:

even more blankets, cuz we need 132091238 of them

even more blankets, cuz we need 132091238 of them

So, you gotta cram your blankets into the bags, and then ya gotta find the hole, like so:

the hole to suck out all the air in the bag

the hole to suck out all the air in the bag

And, then this happens:

you are now witnessing the sucking action

you are now witnessing the sucking action

Finally, it ends up like this:

airless sucked bags - mucho smaller-o

airless sucked bags - mucho smaller-o

Which, makes Sheila’s small little world a little more spacier. Okay, notsomuch. But, it did help with some of the storage issues I was having.

Final product?

130123098123 sucked up blankets

130123098123 sucked up blankets

Now I wanna put everything into vacuum bags and suck all the air out!! Its entertaining, I promise you!

PS – Sponsored post? Really? Not at all. Not enough people read this blog for someone to pay me to post about this crap!

  • The new van is still pretty and still wonderful.
  • Tom calls it his limousine.
  • We’ve been struggling to find things to do without the use of money, since we’re broke.
  • No one wants to buy the old van for more than $600.
  • We were really hoping to get at least $1000 for the clunker.
  • The money from the sale of the old van will be immediately sunk into our propane tank.
  • Yay.  <—- sarcasm
  • I haven’t been tweeting or posting lately because, well, I just don’t have anything important to say.
  • I have successfully gotten 3 out of 5 of my dad’s siblings to create facebook accounts.
  • I find that very entertaining.
  • Perhaps I should hold bi-monthly facebook lessons for my mom and my aunts… lol!
  • We really wanted to get out on the town today, but Tom’s body would not cooperate.  He felt miserable up in his chair, so had to get back into bed.
  • He’s feeling much better now.
  • We made a routine doctors appointment for him next Tuesday.
  • Which means we’ll have an excuse to get out next week.
  • I’m frustrated that the coke rewards site has changed their points limit to 120 a week instead of 100 a day.  Now I’m sitting on a whole bunch of points that I can’t enter because I’ve already reached my 120 limit this week.
  • We did get a food processor and a dust buster-type thingee from the coke rewards sight.  Not that we’ve used either yet… but, by golly, we have them.
  • We were going to go geocaching today, but Tom’s GPS didn’t want to download any waypoints.  I don’t think his GPS and Vista are friends.  (of course, that whole Tom not feeling well thing didn’t help either)
  • We bought one cherry tree that is almost 5 feet tall the other day.
  • We did not know you needed two cherry trees to make cherries.
  • We do not have the money to buy a second cherry tree.
  • We need milk.
  • We’re low on Diet Coke.
  • The sun is setting.
  • There is a squirrel in my driveway.
  • I think one of the neighborhood dogs has mange.
  • I don’t know what mange is.
  • I only think the dog has mange because I heard one of the neighbors yell to another neighbor, “You know that dog probably has mange, right?”
  • I could google it, but I don’t wanna.
  • I want some cereal and milk.
  • Or some corned beef and cabbage.
  • Oh yeah, Happy St. Patrick’s Day.
  • Uhm…
  • Uhm…
  • Uhm…
  • Okay, thats it for now.
  • See ya.

Someone mentioned Peter Paul and Mary the other night in a post.

Which quickly led down a slippery slope when I decided to check out some of their older performances online.

We started with Peter Paul and Mary singing Puff the Magic Dragon, promptly followed by Right Field, then … as I scroll down, I see Peter Paul and Mary with Donavan and The Smother’s Brothers?

Of course, I’m intrigued.

(I promise, though, its not nearly as intriguing as it looked.)

Then, the trip down memory lane made me check out some more of The Smother’s Brothers videos, because… well, gosh, they’re just down right entertaining, in my opinion.  I made Tom watch several of the clips with me.

Somewhere, down the line of The Smother’s Brothers videos comes The Who performing on the brother’s comedy hour.  What a rowdy bunch of kids they are, you know?  And, as they’re finishing up My Generation, I ask Tom… “Is this that one show that the one thing happens to the drummer?“  At that moment, the ‘thing’ I’m talking about happens, and Tom says (without missing a beat), “It would appear so.”

Yeah.

Well, after The Who, where do you go?  I mean… that was some excitement there.

So, we decide to bring it down a notch and settle in for some good old fashion Simon and Garfunkel.  I loooooove their music.

Let me say it again:

LOVE!

I could listen to Simon and Garfunkel all day long with no problems.  The harmonies?  Amazing.

I’m fairly certain that Tom and I watched an hour or so of their random videos.

Good stuff.

A wonderful musical night!

What do you enjoy listening to on a mellow evening?

The other day I was complaining to Tom about all the junk that has accumulated in our house. The guest room is not immediately usable – if someone were to come to stay without some warning, they’d be sleeping on the couch! The bedroom is starting to overflow also. Tom’s wheelchair becomes storage for some small boxes and clothing until he decides to get up, then that pile gets transfered onto my bed.

Needless to say, storage is an issue.

Well, let me rephrase a little: We have too much crap. We are pack rats. I am not an organized person by nature. All this added into a house with minimal storage (no basement, no attic and no garage) is an issue.

We do have a shed, though.

And, when we moved in here, we promptly filled up the shed (in a haphazard way) with junk. When I say ‘filled’, I mean ‘mostly shoved in and hoping it won’t fall over on someone’.

Tom and Paul have been discussing the Great Shed Rearrange since we moved in.

Well, today Paul decided to empty the shed.

Without telling us.

Which is a mixed blessing.

I’m thankful that its a nice day, therefore Tom will be able to sit out there and supervise it all. Yet, I was not in the mindset to take on this task today.

I think I’m going to play the “Its not my stuff” card on this project!

I really have absolutely nothing to talk about.

At all.

I know I just did a meme, but I’m bored.
