Okay, so I know I totally promised to write here at least once a week.

It was my bad planning which set up that time frame during one of the busiest months of my year.

The week after the Fourth of July was Cub Scout Day Camp. This is quite the family affair, if I’ve not mentioned it before. My mom has been the Director for our District’s Day Camp for a long long time. So, naturally, my sister and I have always been around to help her out.

This year, my sister was suckered asked to be the Program Director. Her job required her to find 24 different activities for these Cub Scouts to do, and make sure all the supplies were available before camp began.

I helped my sister pull things together months before camp started. But, the month before July 6th (our first day of camp) was spent living and breathing preparation.

What did she end up scheduling, you ask? Lets see if I can remember them all:

1. Wooden candy dispenser for gumballs
2. Leather working / stamping
3. Water bottle rocket launcher
4. BB guns
5. Bucking Bronco
6. Archery
7. Nature Trail
8. Obstacle Course
9. Trading Post / Team working
10. Solar Cookers
11. Lava Lamps
12. Marbles
13. Pet Rocks
14. Sling Shots
15. Earth ball soccer
16. Human Checkers
17. Constellation Projectors
18. Fishing
19. Wheel of Misfortune (First Aid)
20. Monkey Bridge
21. Parachute games
22. water ball ‘Lacrosse’
23. tin rubbing
24. soap carving

I think that’s the jist of it all.

Sound like a fun time to you?

I will see about getting back around this place sooner than the last time. If you super miss me, find me on twitter or facebook. If you don’t super miss me… well, uhm, why wouldn’t you super miss me?!

For the longest time now, my mom has volunteered to help run our district’s Cub Scout Day Camp.  Its quite the family event for us, involving my sister and myself.  We’ve literally done this for nearly 25 years.

The day camp consists of approximately 450 cub scouts (aged 5 – 9 years old) that come to be entertained and educated in the outdoors for a whole week.  Again, it is a day camp.  The boys go home every night and come back every morning for a week. They are accompanied by their leaders and parents each day who are there to assist them with their activities and whatnot.

Each day is broken up into 5 activities, with lunch in the middle of the day.  There are approximately 20 to 25 boys in each activity at a time.  We do crafts and games and some range activites, like Archery or BB guns.  We do fishing and a wood project.  The boys run an obstacle course and go on a nature hike.

We try our hardest to work in educational qualities into our crafts or games, like sneaking in team work or maybe sliding in some science, while the kids have fun.

I’m tell you this because, this year, my sister has been designated to come up with all the activities for the boys to participate in.  And, we’re looking for some ideas.

Remembering that we have to fill about a 50 minute time span, and have to keep 20 to 25 boys occupied during that time frame, do you have any ideas for an educational craft / activity / game that maybe my sister could use for our Cub Scout Day Camp?

We try to use minimal costs while accomplishing these goals.  After we figure out what we’re doing for our activities, we attempt to get the community to help donate items to alievate cost as well.

Now, imagine yourself filling an hour with 25 youngster boys around in the hot outdoors, with minimal water and no constant source of electricity…

Ideas?

Well, here’s the deal: I don’t have a lot to say right now.

I’ve been slowly working on reorganizing my bathroom, and contemplating the cleaning of the rest of my house.

I installed a template that I edited for Sugar Queen’s Dream.

I’ve been messing around with my tester blog.

I need to finish the flyer for the benefit on November 3.

I was supposed to go over to my mother’s tonight, but I got involved with the piles of stuff in the guest bedroom… which didn’t get put away, but moved from one spot to another.

It rained today. I have no energy.

If I could teleport to my mom’s, I would. I’d like to visit. I just don’t want to drive anywhere… have you had days like that?

I’m a sucky daughter.

It was my birthday yesterday.

I turned 31.

*insert overly sarcastic jump for joy here*

I don’t have anything against my birthday, or turning 31 or birthdays in general.

I do get antsy when my birthday rolls around because I know I don’t have money to buy anyone anything for their birthday, so I feel bad if anyone buys me anything.

I’m not going to re-read that sentence.  I hope it made sense.  For some reason, I had a hard time phrasing it.

Anyway – I went and visited my mom and sister yesterday.  We had cheesecake.  It was gooooood.

And, past that, the day was pretty average.

I do want to thank everyone again who left me a birthday comment, put something on their own blogs, wrote on my wall on Facebook or emailed me.  It was really a wonderful gesture.

I love the ‘little things’.  They really make me smile.

Today, Tom’s mom and Trish came over.  They brought brownies and ice cream.  (Also goooood.)

As for blogging lately, I’ve still got nothin’.

Someone give me a topic to write about or a question to answer, and I’ll see what I can pull off.

Somehow, while at my mom’s tonight, we got on the subject of sinuses and wisdom teeth. Which, actually, was a very humorous conversation, I promise.

It all started with my sister discussing rescheduling her appointment with an ERT specialist, because she’s been having some crazy stuffy head crap for way too long now and antibiotics ain’t kickin’ it.

We talk about how our sinuses suck overall, and decide that it must be hereditary… on my dad’s side of the family (cuz our mom is just staring at us like we’re crazy throughout this conversation).

My sister and I started comparing notes about not having enough room for our wisdom teeth to grow in, and how we should get them removed. Although, Angie has been to the dentist recently, and they didn’t mention anything about her needing them removed…

As I have wondered for years now, I tell my family that perhaps my sinus issues are because I still have my wisdom teeth. With a relatively small mouth (shut up, peanut gallery), and larger teeth, there just isn’t enough room for everything to fit. I should of had teeth pulled when I was younger. And braces. And probably head gear… okay, it’s not that bad.

Anyhow – I start to realize that, perhaps, since I still have my wisdom teeth, that it’s pressing on my ear canals, making me somewhat hearing impaired.

Of course, I’m joking. But, I continue anyhow:

“Right! Its because of my wisdom teeth that I have a problem hearing Tom talk to me!”

I pause just long enough, then say, “I’m too smart to hear him!”

Get it?!?!

Wisdom teeth. Smart?! Blocking off my ear canals? Can’t hear him?!?!

C’mon. That was funny.

I got my Reader’s Digest today that my mother ordered for me!

I’m ultra excited, and plan on reading through it right now!

See ya later.

Geez, I know its been a while. But, seriously, I don’t know if there’s much worth saying.

Uh, let’s see. Tom recently aquired an OT (occupational therapist) to work out his upper body. He’s been in some pretty intense pain, but has decided to be a trooper and work through it. Hopefully he’ll be able to get better fine motor skills, or perhaps even get a couple more muscles working!

I’ve written an email to my boss explaining why I think the manager sucks so badly, and how something needs to be done about it. (I’ve not heard anything back on that.)

I’m getting the van inspected today. Yes, I’m late.

I’ve recently found Find A Grave, which is either a really cool website, or really morbid… depending on how you look at it. Of course, I find it really cool.

This website is a wonderful online memorial and an information mecca for geneology researchers. It also helps those who are unable to travel to locate their families plots. I have decided since I enjoy wandering aimlessly around cemeteries anyhow, to take a camera with me.

And, I’ve converted Angie as well, since she enjoys cemeteries the same as I do.

Speaking of cemeteries, Mom is working towards getting all the details figured out for the headstone. Every time she thinks she almost has it all figured out, someone mentions something else that she starts to concider adding. I think she’s getting closer to making her final decisions.

I guess that’ll have to do for now (update-wise).

Catch ya later.
